WiFi problems are often blamed on the broadband provider, but the connection coming into your property is only part of the story. The way your network is designed and how WiFi is distributed throughout your home makes a huge difference. I regularly help with problems such as:

Professional Home WiFi Installation
Every property is different, so I don't use the same solution everywhere. I'll look at your property, how you use the internet and where coverage is actually needed before recommending one of three approaches, or a mix of them.
Mesh WiFi Systems
For homes where running cables is impractical or unnecessary. I install and correctly position systems such as TP-Link Deco and other suitable mesh equipment, so the units work together properly rather than just being plugged in wherever there's a socket.
Mesh doesn't have to rely purely on a wireless link between units, either: where cabling is available, units can also be connected with a wired backhaul, which improves reliability further.
Wired Access Points
For larger homes, thick walls, multiple floors and properties where maximum reliability matters. Each access point has its own wired connection back to the network, rather than relying on a wireless link between units, giving stronger and more consistent coverage than mesh or basic extenders alone.
This is usually built on Cat6 cabling installed to reach each access point.
Managed UniFi or Omada Networks
For larger homes, more advanced requirements, or customers who want everything centrally managed. I install Ubiquiti UniFi or TP-Link Omada gateways, switches and access points, controlled from one place rather than as separate devices.
These aren't automatically a wireless mesh system; they're usually built around wired access points, just managed centrally. More on each system in WiFi Systems I Install below.

I don't default to one manufacturer. Which system makes the most sense depends on the wall construction, how many floors need covering, whether running cables is realistic and what you're looking to spend.
Consumer Mesh (e.g. TP-Link Deco)
A sensible, cost-effective choice for most homes, and where I most often recommend TP-Link Deco or similar systems.
Ubiquiti UniFi
Suits larger or premium properties that want a polished, centrally managed network with room to expand.
TP-Link Omada
Similar central management to UniFi, at a different price point, and good value on bigger installations.
Who this is for
Older and larger Edinburgh homes
Thick stone walls, converted properties, multiple floors, extensions and long layouts can all seriously reduce wireless coverage. A more powerful router isn't always the answer. In many homes, the best solution is to distribute the network properly using strategically positioned access points or a professionally installed mesh system.
Home offices
If you work from home, unreliable WiFi quickly becomes more than an annoyance. Video meetings, cloud applications, VPN connections and large file transfers all need a stable connection, which often means using wired Ethernet, dedicated access points, mesh WiFi or improved router configuration.
Garden rooms, extensions & outbuildings
Getting reliable internet into a garden office, extension or outbuilding can be difficult with standard WiFi equipment. Depending on the property, I can install a wired network connection, dedicated access point or suitable wireless solution.

That might mean adjusting your existing setup, installing mesh WiFi, running network cabling or fitting dedicated wireless access points. I'll explain the options clearly and confirm the cost before anything is installed.
Everything is installed properly
Equipment is positioned correctly and configured for performance, security and reliability. Where cabling is required, I'll keep the installation as neat and discreet as reasonably possible.
I test the network
Once everything is installed, I'll test coverage and connectivity throughout the areas that matter to you. Phones, laptops, televisions and other devices can also be checked before I leave.
